Why Build with FRP Infographic

Since 1974, Bedford has focused on manufacturing the highest-quality pultruded fiberglass pieces. Fiberglass-reinforced polymer (FRP) offers several key advantages compared to traditional building materials including light weight, high strength, long life and outstanding corrosion resistance. To maximize these benefits it is best to design with the properties of FRP in mind from the start. Bedford offers pre-engineered and custom FRP products.

Bedford’s PROForms® structural profiles and PROGrate® pultruded grating are manufactured using the pultrusion process. Through this process, a machine pulls raw materials (such as fiberglass reinforcement and resin) through a series of steps to create the finished profile.

Pultrusions can be found in a wide range of applications and markets. In fact, Bedford has provided pultruded fiberglass pieces to a variety of projects across the country. Explore our infographic for more information about the benefits of FRP, the steps to create a structural piece using the pultrusion process, and where you can see finished pultrusions.
