Chambers Creek Pedestrian Bridge
This active adult community for folks 55 years and up needed five bridges to integrate seamlessly into its scenic nature trail system and span the sparkling creek. The solution was low-maintenance FRP bridges from Bedford that will last for decades to come.
Challenge
Avid Trails was contracted by Caldwell Communities to design and build a 20-mile trail system at their Chambers Creek community that would complement the aesthetics of its vibrant yet relaxing adult community setting — and make grandkids beg to come visit. The project required five high-strength bridges for pedestrian use that wouldn’t rot, rust, warp or be affected by weather. Luckily, Avid Trails was familiar with Bedford’s FRP products and their incredible benefits.
Solution
Although Avid Trails had never worked with Bedford before, it was chosen because of its products’ superior durability and Bedford’s ability to meet Avid Trails’ tight timeline and cost constraints. Bedford’s ReadySpan FRP bridges were an ideal fit all around. Installed by Avid Trails, the bridges blended into the natural aesthetics of the community perfectly and were adaptable with FRP handrails. Plus, because of their light weight, the bridge components were easily transported to and installed in less accessible areas of the trail system. Best of all, community residents and their loved ones are enjoying the bridges and spending treasured time together in nature.
Since the project was completed, Caldwell Communities had a need for a bridge on the Chambers Creek community’s golf course. Avid Trails recommended Bedford and a 90-foot ReadySpan bridge was installed.
