Bedford Reinforced Plastics is proud to announce Aldred D’Souza, P.E., Engineering Director, has been named the chair of the Fiberglass Grating Manufacturers Council (FGMC). He will serve in the role through June 30, 2022.

About D’Souza

D’Souza provides clients with unparalleled engineering support. He has more than 22 years in the fiberglass-reinforced plastics (FRP) industry. His dedication to quality and innovation matches that of Bedford. The recently launched ReadySeries line of pre-engineered modular FRP structural products from Bedford showcases what is possible through the collaboration and expertise of the Bedford team.

“I got involved to contribute to the then-proposed FRP Composites Grating Manual, and I continue to stay involved to further the use of FRP grating across various industries,” said D’Souza. “The FGMC is privileged to have members that are experts from the FRP industry. These members contribute a wide variety of valuable experiences gained from dealing with a wide variety of FRP grating applications. These collective experiences translate into better solutions for end-users.”

About the FGMC

The FGMC is a division of the American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA), a developer of American National Standards (ANS). The association is the world’s largest composite industry trade group. ACMA offers resources to help educate industry professionals on the latest market intelligence, regulatory and compliance information, and technical tools.

Grating manual

D’Souza is no stranger to the position. As chair in 2014, he was instrumental in releasing the industry's first FRP Composites Grating Manual approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). Recognized standards are relied on when specifying materials. The manual aids engineers in confidently selecting FRP grating. The manual is now in its second edition. A copy may be purchased in digital format or hardcopy through ACMA’s Education Hub.
